UPPER SCHOOL
Support
Through 1:1 meetings, conversations with individual instructors, and grade-level and weekly administrator meetings where student concerns are discussed, student support is woven throughout the Ross experience.
The Student Support program promotes balanced physical, academic, and emotional health for students as they navigate Ross School’s rigorous curriculum. At the Upper School level, study support programs are also offered as electives on a regular basis and can be taken as often as necessary.
Services for students with different learning needs are provided by the Student Support Services office; such programs are designed to meet the requirements of IEPs and 504 plans.
Learning Support
The Learning Support team plays a vital role in providing special education support to students at Ross School. Their work is integrated into the school day, offering either daily or alternate-day supplements to students' regular schedules. Team members are well-versed in the school curriculum, addressing individual curricular needs and any special education requirements students may have. They act as advocates for students, especially in terms of lobbying for accommodations. For example, they may negotiate with teachers on behalf of a student with dyslexia to modify assignment requirements based on the student's needs.
Counseling Services
The counseling team provide therapeutic support for students in various capacities. They handle crises, routine emotional support, and act as liaisons between students, families, and external professional services. The counselors offer support during crises, such as bereavement or extended medical leaves. They facilitate communication with families to provide necessary flexibility and assistance. The team collaborates with the local school district to ensure students receive professional services tailored to their needs. Attendance at team meetings, including grade-level meetings, helps maintain open communication with faculty. These meetings serve as platforms for discussing student needs and adjusting support services accordingly.
