Alumni Update: R.O. Shapiro ’08 Launches New Album at Stephen Talkhouse
Musician R.O. Shapiro (Raphael Odell Shapiro) ’08 made a much-anticipated return to the East End, performing at Amagansett’s Stephen Talkhouse on February 7. A Sag Harbor native, Shapiro was well known for his theatrical and musical talents during his years at Ross. After studying at Yale and honing his craft across the country, he established himself as a standout in the Americana and folk music scene.
His performance at The Talkhouse was both a homecoming and a celebration, marking the release of his Worthy EP. Throughout the night, Shapiro captivated the audience with his storytelling and heartfelt lyrics, delivering a set that reflected his years of experience on the road. He was joined onstage by fellow singer-songwriter Rachael Davis, swapping songs and harmonies in a collaborative performance. Based in California, Shapiro spent years touring and refining his sound, performing alongside artists like May Erlewine and Jeffrey Martin. His return to the Talkhouse served as a reminder of his deep roots in the East End’s creative community and the enduring connection between his music and where he got his start. Learn more here.
